Digital content creator Cashmeer Sayyid has revealed a striking irony about her much-hyped wedding, which turned out to be the launch of her project.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Monday, August 11, 2025, Cashmeer decried the hypocrisy displayed on social media by creators, stating that most of the influencers who are now bashing her online for faking a wedding ceremony had previously begged for an invite. She went on to say that some of the influencers who felt disappointed with the outcome of the event are publicly criticising her while privately congratulating her.
“Kuna wenye waliniomba invite sahii wanatete, kuna like watu kumi wameniongelelea wanne kwa hao wakumi ni wao ndio waliniomba invite sasa nashanga mbona wananiongelelea na on the side wananiambia ‘congratulations, this is a power move umefanya kitu kali‘,”she said.
“I take it with a pinch of salt; juu wengi wao ni content creators. I feel like they might not want to say it, but inadrive traffic kwa page yao.”
Apology
While recognising the frustration of some of her guests, Cashmeer offered an apology to them.
Speaking on her Instagram account on, Cashmeer admitted the backlash was justified.
“Hi guys, so I’ve just come from the interview and I also want to apologise right now. A lot of my guests felt cheated… I listened to them, I felt bad,” she said.
The event, which had an “all black” dress code, drew numerous content creators and friends dressed in their finest outfits, expecting to witness a matrimonial celebration.
Instead, the “bride” arrived in a white suit and announced she was unveiling a training institute. Several attendees expressed frustration on social media, citing the time, money, and effort they had spent preparing for the day.
Event’s idea
Cashmeer further clarified that the wedding theme was symbolic and intended to highlight the issue of underage marriage.
“It was pushing the agenda of underage marriage,” she said, explaining that the ‘marriage’ in question was to her new project the training institute.
However, she acknowledged that the surprise approach had overshadowed her intended message.
She admitted she felt responsible for the disappointment. “For a host, if someone says they don’t like food or this or that, you feel bad for them because it’s your responsibility to ensure that your guests are satisfied,” she noted.
